Brandan built BR Consulting on the same principle that carried him from a Nashville childhood to Chapel Hill to twelve seasons in the NBA: put the work in, respect the process, and the results will follow.
A Career Built on Sustained Performance
Nashville Roots
Brandan Wright grew up in Nashville, Tennessee, the oldest of three boys, in a household where the work ethic was never something anyone had to explain — it was simply demonstrated, every single day. His mother was a teacher. His father worked a lot of different jobs, whatever it took to provide for a family of five.
There was no business pedigree in the house, no family firm waiting to be inherited. What his parents had instead was a willingness to give their sons everything they could — knowledge, opportunity, and time.
And then there were the sports. Brandan and his brothers played baseball, basketball, and football, which meant that from roughly age four to age fourteen, the family calendar was fully booked. Someone always had a practice. Someone always needed a ride, a uniform, a registration fee.

The Deal in the Wright House
The Wright household ran on a simple and non-negotiable arrangement, and every one of the three boys understood it. Education came first. Not "good grades" — A's. "They didn't even want B's," Brandan remembers. Fall short in the classroom and you didn't play. Since all three brothers loved sports more than anything, the incentive structure took care of itself.
The second half of the deal: if you played sports, you didn't need an outside job. Brandan's parents handled the rest. So work, for him, came in the form of odd jobs — helping a family member out for a few days, picking up a couple hundred dollars here and there.
The one that stuck with him came through his grandmother, who worked for a large publishing company. Every year around the holidays, the company needed extra hands, and the Wright boys would show up for the week — on their feet eight to ten hours a day, stuffing brochures during the holiday rush.
Public school in Tennessee, then private school for high school, then one year at the University of North Carolina — brief, but formative. That next step was the NBA. Brandan was drafted at nineteen years old.
Twelve Years, and a Long Look at the Business World
Getting drafted opened doors immediately. When your name is recognizable, opportunity finds you — and so does everything dressed up to look like opportunity.
He had wanted to be a figure in the business world since he was a kid. But basketball was his first love, and he was extraordinarily good at it. So for twelve NBA seasons, business stayed in his peripheral vision: real estate, private deals, startup investments. He dipped a toe in, backing people he trusted and letting them run.
The limitation bothered him. Brandan is not a passive operator by temperament. Playing at that level demanded his full attention. Anything else would have gotten a fraction of him — and a fraction has never been how he operates.

BR Consulting and the Move into Government Contracting
When his playing career ended, Brandan went looking for the thing he could give everything to. He found it in government contracting. The appeal was the sheer range of it — a business with a lot of variety, a lot of opportunity, where you can pretty much do anything.
He was also deliberate about what he pursued: not just whatever was available, but work he'd actually find interesting. Fun contracts. Something he wouldn't be dreading if he actually won it.
Then came the part nobody can schedule. In this space, you never know when you're going to win. You don't know when a contract will be awarded. You just put in the work and get out as many submissions as possible.
BR Consulting won its first contract — a multi-million dollar award — inside its first year.

Team Brandan Wright
Alongside the company, Brandan runs a foundation that is now approaching its fifteenth year: Team Brandan Wright, a girls basketball program built around a single, very specific goal — helping young female athletes earn college scholarships so they graduate without student debt.
The program travels through the spring and summer, March through July, putting players in front of college coaches at showcases and tournaments across the country. Roughly 200 girls come through it, from fourth graders to rising seniors, supported by coaches and staff who make sure they arrive prepared, well-trained, and ready to be seen.
Over the last five to seven years, Team Brandan Wright has expanded well beyond basketball, adding community partnerships and education programs. The philosophy underneath all of it is the same one Brandan applies to everything else: build people up so they can stand on their own.

Low-Key, by Design
Away from the business, Brandan keeps things deliberately simple. The family travels, sees the world, and plays a lot of tennis together. As his daughters get older, the trips get further afield.
He reads far more now than he ever did in school, and listens to podcasts constantly — anything that's nurturing the mind and helping him improve.

The Next Five to Ten Years
Ask Brandan where BR Consulting is headed, and he won't hand you a revenue target. He'll hand you a standard.
A company federal buyers can trust — small contract or nine figures — because it shows up prepared, delivers exactly what was promised, and does it again on the next award. Not the biggest team in the room. The most reliable one.
Getting there, in his view, is the same equation that carried him from a Nashville house where grades came before the game, to Chapel Hill, to twelve seasons in the NBA. You don't fully control the outcome — but you have 100% control over the process. Show up. Do the work. Trust the results will come.
